We are Evil Plots, ltd.
So what are we anyway?
We are a collection of role players/gamers/writers* /mundanes who enjoy
interactive text-based role-play, guided by free form rules.
*Writers - Anyone who writes words is considered
"a writer" by Evil Plot's, ltd.
What the heck does that mean?!
Role-playing has many forms and systems, many stumbling upon this site
are most likely already familiar on some level about role-play and
gaming systems. We address a specific form of role-play, found
through collaborative interactive fiction specifically in the free form
environs of AOL.
Does that mean only AOL members can participate?
No, not at all. Only some of the information on this site will be
impossible to access without an AOL account. We invite any with an open
mind, helpful attitude and voracious hunger for role-play to
participate.
So what's this about interactive fiction?
Interactive fiction is found where ever two or more individuals tell
their stories at the same time in the same place. Read more about it here!
Text based, what?
Words, words, words. Some would say that FFRP is more about
creative writing than about gaming and role-play because words and
imagination are the primary tools used, (other than the obvious devices
for internet connection.) This is not a mud, this is not a graphic video
game, there are no images, except for those created by the words on your
screen, either by you or others.
Free form, that's a system?
Learn more about it here!
There are many controllers/game masters/directors. Every
player is the force behind their character; they control what
happens to them. That is the basic point behind free form. The Free Form
system does not run on points, there are no modifiers that make your
character outshine all others. It's up to you what stories you tell,
just keep in mind that the beauty of interactive fiction is in the
cooperation and collaboration of the many players involved.
What?! So you guys are experts or something?
Nope, we are gamers wishing to share our opinions with others in hopes
of encouraging growth in our cherished artistic medium. Much of the
information given on this site is based on subjective perceptions and
personal opinions gained through our collective experiences. Just
because they work for us does not mean they will for everyone. Again, it
is up to you to decide what it is you want out of what it is you do.
We're just trying to make it easier for all of us to find others of like
mind and/or goals to share/participate in Interactive Storytelling.
Man, you so lost me…
Email us and we'll try to confuse
you some more. ::heh::
