  Onyx House, Rhydin Old Town

Location:

Located in Rhydin's Old Town, Onyx House sits to the South of the Commons at the end of Main Street.. The size of their property is immense, spanning all the way to the cliffs overlooking the Old Town Rhydin Sea port.

First Look:

The first home of the Bloods in Rhydin, Onyx House stands three stories high, and on special occasion it has up to five stories! It is a sprawling mansion complemented by manicured lawns and surrounded by a nine foot high stone fence. The House’s exterior is the color of pearls that seems to shimmer as the sun catches it. Balconies ring each of the three levels, (the others as well when they are present that is...) and instead of windows, French style doors grace the balconies, opening out. They glisten as if kept meticulously clean. Pillars rise from the ground to the roof in the front of the House, where two Blood stand guard at all times. The style of the House is not easy to identify unless one has been to the Lands, (Ed note- In BorderTown the Elflands are referred to as the Lands.) Yet the overall image is of grace and elegance, opulent bordering on decadence. As one is facing the House to their right they will see the garage, an overly large structure that supports all the Families vehicles from motorcycles to old fashioned couches and carriages. A paved drive leads from the garage to the heavy oaken gates.

The Grounds:

The grand expanse of the lawn rolls gently down to the stone fence as two large trees of oak keep watchful eyes on the house and the streets of Rhydin that run before it. An ash tree leans close to the house to the left, large and overwhelming, the tree sings with the wind, another soul to guard the treasures that belong to the Blood. A willow tree waves forlorn branches in the wind from its resting place in the center of the immense lawns. Old wooden hands, gnarled and bent, clutch a piece of blank parchment, the message long ago lost to the sands of time. Only the lone shadow of words can still be seen upon the papers weathered face.

To the Back of the House:

Following the balcony around to the back one will come upon the gardens and the lake. The gardens are a visual splendor, well kept as were they designed in their makings, each offers up a style and emotion that is uniquely their own. The sound of the fountains gently splashing can be heard through out the gardens, a soothing, calming addition that is welcome on days of heavy stress. A multitude of benches made of wood are scattered about, resting places for the weary.

A path leads down to the lake where a boat house is nestled aside a wide pier. Across the lake one can make out the house that the Vladslace have built, elegant and spectacular, it invites with its image alone. A forest lies to the north, wild and untamed, with the steep cliffs of Rhydin overlooking the crashing sea just beyond.

Sights and Points of Special Interest:

To the extreme right of the property can be found the crypt, a resting place for the dead of the Blood. It was originally built as a tribute to Sabat the Black Knight, but since his rebirth and his dishonorable behavior towards the Family it has become a dedication to the Bloods instead.

Inside Onyx:

The interior of the House is more overwhelming then the exterior. Graced with marble and heavy with wood, the ground floor is the perfect vision of resplendent grandeur. Falling over the edge of opulent decadence, heavy draperies cover the French doors, Elven brocade and silk tickle the eyes with color where ever they may roam. Wet bars can be found in almost every room, all sporting the stock of the Bloods. Offices as well as the kitchen and three parlors are easily accessible from the main hall. A message board is posted on the wall in the great hall, littered with information from the present to the past. The wide staircase, lavish and intricately decorated with carved wood, rises to the floors above. Its hand railings slick and shiny marble chiseled to sit exactly atop the carved masterpiece. To the back of the ground floor is located the indoor pool and hot tub, as well as a dueling arena where the Bloods may practice any type of combat.

Private Quarters:

Up the stairs are the private chambers of the Bloods. ((This is under constant construction, if you really wanna know more about the house and the private quaurtes, read our board on AOL.))
